Climate groups urge Japan Government and PM Ishiba: Don’t push for Fossil Gas and False Solutions in Asia
Climate advocates today, October 10, challenged the Japanese government and its newly-installed Prime Minister Shigeru Ishiba to stop derailing Asia’s energy future by phasing out all of their fossil fuel investments in Asia. They said Japan must pave the way to a clean energy transition by shifting to investments in renewables, instead of continuing to be the world’s “second largest provider of public finance for fossil fuel projects.”

Climate advocates urged Japan to “undertake drastic measures to rapidly phase out fossil fuel investments in Asia” in line with global climate goals instead of promoting fossil gas and false technology solutions, like ammonia co-firing, in the three-day Japan Energy Summit which begins in Tokyo today, June 3.

Campaigners to delegates of the 19th Clean Energy Forum (ACEF): Deliver clean energy transition by 2050
Climate campaigners demonstrated in front of the Asian Development Bank (ADB) headquarters today calling on the delegates to this year’s Asia Clean Energy Forum (ACEF) to enable Asia’s rapid transition to renewable energy systems by 2050. ADB, along with the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) and the Korea Energy Agency (KEA), is hosting hundreds of clean energy practitioners from Asia for the 19th edition of ACEF from June 3 to 7.
